Manifesting What it is You (Really) Want?

Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of of the thirty-second president Franklin Roosevelt, was described as outspoken person, she was an admired leader who made lasting contributions to the welfare of humanity. Having fought for the rights of workers, children, women, the oppressed and poor. Eleanor is contributed with helping to establish the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Wow, what a great and notable contribution to mankind. Having led a purposeful life, Eleanor would not have accomplished such greatness if she too hadn’t first visualized how she really wanted to make a difference……The following points are hers;

  1. Do what scares you: “Do one thing every day that scares you.”
  2. Be mindful of your reaction: “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
  3. Do the thing you think you cannot do: “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.”

I have come to learn through the Practice Manifest Method (PMM) that spending more time rehearsing what it is I want to manifest rather than rehearsing what it is I do not want, works best for me. Yes, I said rehearse. It is something I do daily, in my mind (first). I follow up by speaking my personal positives into the atmosphere, aligned with my list of Yahweh’s promises. Thus limiting stagnant or negative manifestations. Again, I ask you, what is it that you really want? Once you have asked yourself this question and answered it truthfully, be prepared to put in the effort for what it is you want to see manifest. Side note: It is not often that we manifest greatness in the places we have become most comfortable. Therefore, one must move out of the comfort zones (i.e. fixed mindsets) and onto much scarier divides.

Today, I encourage you to make a list of personal positives (PP) as your focus points, then plan for those things on your list by first seeing (visualizing) or imagining (creating visually). Move forward in your practice by allowing yourself to experience the emotions (how will you enjoy them). Allow yourself to internalize what it will do for you – how it will impact your ability to serve others or better yet allow you to serve in your authentic – purposeful place…..what is it that you (really) want? Remember to share your PP list with an accountability partner. I do believe in the saying, “practice makes perfect”, so practice practice practice…….

As a tribute to women far and wide and as a celebration of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month….I will post women from different walks of life who have triumphed in their journey of gaining what it is they (really) wanted, as a testimony for me and to you. It’s The Look Back For Me….

As an athlete (track and field participant) I ran the third leg of the 4×400 Relay in both high school and at the college level. As long as I can remember, my coaches always trained us not to look back while running our races. Why? Because it signaled a negative shift in the mindset of the runner. When a runner looks backwards, it is typically because they are afraid someone is catching up with them. At that point, they are no longer running their race or running to win, they’re now running to avoid losing the race. The runners mind then begins to focus on how to avoid losing, instead of how to win. The same as with life’s experiences, when attempting to separate ones self from toxic people, places & things, the effort to look back significantly reduces our momentum. It distracts the mind from the overall goal.

I am reminded of what Scripture references regarding Lots’ wife, an unnamed woman in the Bible. In Genesis 19:15-26, her husband was told to take her and her daughters out of the city of Sodom. While they were running, Lot’s wife looked back as the city burned, clearly disobeying the instructions her family had been given. Jewish commentary states that as a result of looking back, Lot’s wife was turned into a pillar (monument) salt. By looking back at the “evil cities,” she betrayed her secret longing for that (former) way of life. Pillar defined: tall vertical structure of stone, wood, or metal, used as a support for a building, or as an ornament or monument. A monument is often created in a space/place (splace) as a reminder of of something important in history that happened there.

Much like the reminder of Lot’s wife, there comes a time that a way of escape is made for us. Then the question comes, will you separate? much more, will you look back in longing for the toxic relationships or better yet situation-ships of the past? Let me once again remind you of the Runner. Looking back for him/her signals a negative shift in mindset. The momentum and the focus to win is then lost. At that point, they are no longer running their race or running to win, they’re now running to avoid losing the race. The next time that you are faced with looking back from your vision or overall goal (longing for past comforts), remember what “winning” means to you—a personal best, a victory. As you run, repeat the following mantra to yourself; Today I will keep my eyes forward, progressing towards my goals. Negative thoughts only have the power I allow them therefore; I release all the negativity within me and surrounding me, and open myself up to new forms of happiness and new forms of opportunities. She Loves Me, HE Loves Me Not

Once again it is the season of celebrating love and within the next 24 hours there will be a frenzy of last minute gifts being bought…..but have we learned anything as of yet? Anything about what valentine’s day really represents or better yet how to best show love to our partners, family or friends? …Well, it is not too late to find out.

The history of Valentine’s Day and the story of its patron saint has long been celebrated in the month of February. Valentine’s Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. As an expression of love we share chocolate, special dinners, or cards with our loved ones, some may even take special trips, buy flowers or more…Whatever you do this valentine’s day be sure to do it with the receivers love language in mind….The five Love Languages as noted by Pastor Gary Chapman are as follows;.

Gifts – Tangible and intangible items that make you feel appreciated or noticed. Acts of Service – Doing something helpful or kind for your partner. Quality Time – Engaging in an activity together. Physical Touch – Physical expressions of love, whether sexual or more platonic, such as holding hands, a back scratch, a hug, a kiss, or intercourse. Words of Affirmation – These are verbal expressions of care and affection.

By understanding your own love language and that of the people you love, it helps to encourage a deeper connection in your relationships. To learn more about love languages there’s a 10- to 15-minute quiz (see resource link below) to help identify primary love languages. To make this quarantined valentine’s day even more fun for you and your special someones., I have included a few ideas for keeping with a safe and enjoyable V-Day….. Plan a special breakfast (in bed)…….write special notes and set them in various places around your home, why not make it into a valentine’s day scavenger hunt (see instructions below) …or..order in, have a movie night with all romantic comedies or better yet a family movie…..what ever you do, do it with purpose and with LOVE…………HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY to you…. #janenotdoe

Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt: This Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt is super simple to setup. Simply create your own Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt riddles, hide them in the various locations around your home and give the hunter their first clue to start. Remember that each clue builds on the one before it…at the end of your clues or in the middle include small treats/inexpensive gifts to make the hunt more exciting.
